Mid-Level Backend, Data & ML Developer

Role Overview

You'll work alongside a Senior Backend, Data & ML Developer and our existing backend team to build backend systems, process data, and integrate ML and data science models into our platform.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services and APIs.
• Develop data processing workflows and pipelines.
• Implement, integrate and maintain ML models and data science algorithms in production.
• Optimise database queries, data models and system performance.
• Work with the frontend and mobile teams on API integrations.
• Write tests and documentation, and take part in code reviews.

What We're Looking For

• 3-5 years of backend development experience.
• Strong skills in Django and working knowledge of SQL databases.
• Practical experience with ML models and data science algorithms, from training or integration through to deployment.
• Experience handling and transforming data at scale.
• Experience with cloud platforms, Git and CI/CD.
• Clear communication with backend, web and mobile teammates.
• Experience working with AI tools for development such as Claude and Cursor.

Note: Full-stack experience isn't required. Strong backend and data skills plus good cross-team communication matter most.

Nice to Have

• Python data and ML tools (for example pandas, scikit-learn or PyTorch).
• Experience with model serving or MLOps tools.
